In my fourth year at Carleton, I completed my capstone project where I created a product through social design with a Northern community in the Yukon. I love learning and working with my hands to develop and create. I am a very driven person putting everything into my work and I enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects. https://www.isabeldukes.ca/contact-me daily 0.75 2022-01-25 https://www.isabeldukes.ca/gallery daily 0.75 2022-02-22 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/949439e5-d709-4f7d-abac-0c642db58e6b/DSC_0596+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/30b6e480-e14e-435d-8ff8-8ebb68b4cbfd/DSC_0577+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/f0443cd5-7303-43ec-a40b-d919bfa12d20/DSC_0564+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/9f1c1b65-baa6-48b4-aa63-3416bb64397a/DSC_0577+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/783df1af-aec3-4c64-83c8-18cecc9e6fb4/DSC_0580+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/4eab6b76-4b5a-4ba7-9a8f-c6821e4648ce/DSC_0559+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/4f7c548a-3787-4b8a-a0ed-f95f563b8f47/DSC_0582+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/a760d42c-2097-4ca3-9a1b-d8f90eee2167/DSC_0576+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/b0676528-c111-4b38-82af-2fffbad589dd/DSC_0551+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/fc161807-32cb-4b30-aef5-6e84fce647d3/DSC_0594+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/ba7690e1-6974-4fa8-8c66-621706b58baf/DSC_0554+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/e09f8957-87eb-4ceb-84ab-c3881e090d37/DSC_0599+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/90f4238d-a2c9-4fce-89e4-def0401c4292/DSC_0604+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/8c65146e-509f-4f06-8969-4e8445d4a32c/DSC_0606+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/20a86b5a-e949-4cf9-be15-6b4fa06736da/DSC_0609+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/1f7cadc0-7234-4eca-ae24-0f8cf95d8a5e/DSC_0543+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/75e90c7d-e372-4e3e-8576-980e88a7982b/DSC_0583+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/98f8402e-8c07-4289-b594-955f421b5b44/DSC_0546+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/1d0d8235-362d-4ffb-b37d-0aa97658e19b/DSC_0566+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/e58f9828-8dc1-463c-ad0d-31137ae37c46/DSC_0574+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/d9689046-9520-4ac3-95db-60cc5dd2861e/DSC_0558+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/4aa4f19e-24b2-4033-9645-969d2e973cc4/DSC_0569+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/cef2a259-14f1-4749-9aaf-0b3c1f94e35b/DSC_0568+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/3083f44a-4eda-4bbb-bfac-313fc5c79298/DSC_0548+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/c67c37ea-3437-4bf7-a3d8-c24c68cbeeee/DSC_0560+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/606ed044-f686-455e-8303-0b7eba708284/DSC_0551+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/5729a570-048d-45a6-bf3c-c2ed8422159a/DSC_0554+2+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/db11e8f0-c1c8-4c74-baef-9547e62a451b/DSC_0544+copy.JPG Gallery https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/d9f52bef-4874-4701-bf5d-6be373dd1665/DSC_0547+copy.JPG Gallery https://www.isabeldukes.ca/industrial-design daily 0.75 2026-09-28 https://www.isabeldukes.ca/industrial-design/cascade monthly 0.5 2026-09-28 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/f08e83ac-58fd-47c5-9f4e-5c21be046467/Cascade-Hero-Shot-New.jpg Industrial Design - After further research, I decided to use custom-cut plastic paired with a smaller LCD (liquid crystal display) screen positioned behind it. This approach keeps the cost relatively low while maintaining a high-quality appearance. The main limitation is that the plastic LCD cover is slightly larger on the top, meaning the screen could appear too short when the display is on. To address this, the text and results will be displayed in white on a black background, allowing the non-illuminated areas to blend seamlessly with the display and create a more refined appearance. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/ee4bd14d-cbb4-4f3a-a9c8-70df92673deb/Features-Batteries.jpg Industrial Design - AMAURO - Battery Pack For the power source, I used two AA batteries. To make this part of the product accessible without relying on audible instructions, I designed the batteries to pop out of the machine when the plastic battery holder is pressed and clicked. The external push point features textured plastic, making it easier for users to identify through touch. Inside the holder, the classic springs found in most battery compartments help indicate the correct orientation of the batteries. The same push-and-click mechanism is used to securely put the battery pack back into the machine. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/4fa03ec9-db9c-4cb1-9d97-f108a33f530d/Features-Buttons.jpg Industrial Design - AMAURO - Buttons Using the website Coolors.co, I selected the ideal shades and colours for the product, keeping colour accessibility and colour blindness in mind. The website allowed me to preview how the chosen colours would appear to users with different forms of colour blindness. To ensure the colours were accessible and provided sufficient contrast against the black symbols, I used ColourContrast.cc to verify that the selected shades met appropriate accessibility standards. In addition to colour and visual indicators, I incorporated Braille and textured symbols, as not all visually impaired users can read Braille. This provides multiple forms of tactile symbolism necessary to a positive user experience. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/cd475e27-7095-4d35-b52e-2e7ffc1607ef/Features-Cuff.jpg Industrial Design - AMAURO - Cuff I used the same website, Coolors.co, to select the two colours used on the cuff. The red shade serves as an accent colour to help users identify where the cuff should be positioned on the upper arm. This section of the cuff is also made from significantly softer cotton fabric to provide an additional tactile indicator, while the remainder of the cuff is made from nylon. The cuff is permanently attached to the machine to simplify the user experience and prevent it from becoming misplaced. A handle, which is larger than the D-ring, was also incorporated to reduce the likelihood of the cuff slipping out of the ring and to make it easier for users to locate and handle through touch. https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/d3a09fb5-9ac5-41cb-b3d0-933dd18e27b8/Construction-Machine.jpg Industrial Design - AMAURO https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/23577fe6-f4a5-4093-b124-d2b54bde9979/Construction-Cuff.jpg Industrial Design - AMAURO https://www.isabeldukes.ca/industrial-design/oka monthly 0.5 2023-03-28 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/d750b323-bab2-44f2-a218-b635418986e3/Oka-Portfolio.jpg Industrial Design - OKA https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/61c85036-3cce-4e69-bdb5-70e12a4a6fd0/UPDATED-OKA-Final-Design-Board.jpg Industrial Design - OKA - Make it stand out Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference. https://www.isabeldukes.ca/industrial-design/northern-over-boot monthly 0.5 2026-09-28 https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/106a03c8-0fcb-4f24-ae7c-5c31b3bee34a/Hero-Shot-Reduced+copy.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/ecdd5358-ac9c-4a6d-9d27-3473318d7eb5/Solution-Graphics2.webp https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/02437962-6fe9-466a-ab7a-65f6a56c417a/Solution-Graphics1.webp https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/7cc237b5-91da-473c-b763-9852409ecb0a/Screen+Shot+2023-04-09+at+10.44.26+PM+copy.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/ba5e4bf0-88fd-404b-8bbb-533f6b1d51bd/IMG_2972.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/0b93c778-d624-4a85-b093-8a2bead93875/IMG_2698+copy.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/3350442a-0057-4f6f-9266-5ec9e31bde77/IMG_2810+copy.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/9ac93e6d-9c19-4a47-91f0-83c8be96d761/Mukluk-making_MukLuk+Creation.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/f8aa761e-367f-4202-854c-ceaaf5d47404/adidas-3dprint-rotated-06.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/0a8e6522-5c16-4430-b19b-4d32130aa28c/adidas-hiker.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/b217c87a-a1bc-4584-84f8-0e244d62c81c/New-Balance-Runner.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/49c1e047-ef3c-4fe6-9ba7-61858429f033/Basic-Winter-Boots.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/476959f6-9105-4f9e-b97a-ad4bbf955bad/Capstone-Portfolio_Prortyping+1.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/76d0a247-e22a-4a15-ba6c-03f923474be7/User-Testing-1.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/efd2257d-52b5-444f-838e-4429d3043789/user-testing-2_User-Testing-Edited.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/fa924c53-b658-4fce-99d7-966b6ca868db/Screenshot+2026-08-26+at+12.31.49%E2%80%AFPM.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/a03f8f71-f533-482b-b42b-6d3271dd327c/Model.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/07f2ec25-8af8-4b88-bc45-389a75e0f4d5/Sectional-View.jpeg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/f669d002-b2e8-4186-bd7f-daa8952c34ee/Graphics_Production.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/fbeb5de3-a1bd-4c07-9859-d17060ed6896/Final-Design_Features.png https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/9232cee4-c3d7-4ca5-95ab-ac0b68c6056a/Clip.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/034c064d-8532-4ddd-a66e-06c6d5bc1479/Insulation.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/6339b321-0f56-49c6-b036-9edd5a874b7a/Laces.jpg https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/618d6b4961968a633af009c9/20d818e0-9339-42a1-9f2d-51afdd148217/sole.jpg
